All compression socks in nylon quality, such as pantyhose, stay-ups and knee high socks, should be hand washed with a mild detergent.

Socks in cotton quality can be machine washed with a mild detergent on a low heat (30-40 degrees Celsius). Always place the socks in a laundry bag for machine washing.

If one uses their socks often or daily, it is best to hand wash the socks with a mild detergent in the evening after a day's use, and then let them hang to dry during the night. If you use dirty socks, the dirt will increase the friction which will wear out the fibers of the sock, causing them to break faster.
